Pedro Sauer (currently an 8th degree red/black belt) was born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, having started his combat sports training through boxing at the age of 5. Sauer also added judo and taekwondo to his expertise at a later stage. At age fifteen, his friend Rickson Gracie, invited him to come and train Jiu-Jitsu with his younger brother (Royler) who was only nine years old. The outcome of this experience convinced Pedro that jiu-jitsu was the most effective of all the martial arts, and he began grappling at the Gracie academy the very next day. Pedro received his blackbelt in 1985 under Rickson and Hello Gracie. He moved to the USA in 1990 and has had much success teaching in various states including Utah, Virginia and has recently relocated to Georgia. In 2005, Pedro Sauer was named “Best of the Best Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Instructor” in a worldwide poll conducted by the Abu Dhabi Combat Club (ADCC) website.
Fundamentals class
We offer a fundamentals class for beginners, we focus on mechanics, leverage and technique as taught by Professor Sauer. This class will cover all the requirements for white to blue belt level as required by the Pedro Sauer Association. Students will learn to properly land when thrown, how to properly execute fundamental techniques with proper body mechanics and without injuring your partner. Safety is always our top priority. Sparring will be limited until students have a grasp on position, technique and safety. Positional sparring will be introduced first and students will gradually work their way up to “rolling” .
Self Defense
Our curriculum has a big focus on self defense for street situations. Helio Gracie, and Rickson Gracie have always stressed the real world self defense aspect when training Professor Sauer. Professor has kept that focus as well in his teachings and his belt requirements. You will learn how to defense yourself in various street situations both standing and on the ground.
BLUE TO PURPLE

You should have a firm grasp of the fundamentals and positional hierarchy and start developing your own game. This is where “checkers turns to chess”.
