SANDA/ SANSHOU
Sanda (free fight) and Sanshou A system of practical fighting techniques for both attacks and self-defense. Based on all the fighting applications of different Kung Fu styles, it also absorbed techniques from boxing and wrestling, etc. It is the required training for military officers, Marines, special reconnoiter troops and anti-riot police officers.  It has great practical value for everyday self-defense. The sport version of Sanda and Sanshou is very popular these days. It is the Chinese version of Mixed Martial Arts, sort of a Muay Thai with takedowns, however their is no ground fighting once on the floor. The training is very physical and a practiconer becomes well versed in striking, clinching and throwing and takedown defense. Master Li Tailiang(Gu Long) was an excellent Sanshou player and won many competitions and  went on to become the first coach of Beijing Sanshou college team, as well as the Sanda coach for police and military in China. Below is a clip of one of today's most exciting Sanda fighters from China, his name is Liu Hailong. the next clip is of Cung Le, a great Sanshou/Sanda player who has made the crossover to MMA and has used his Sanda skills very effectively in this arena..
