A MESSAGE FROM DAN REGAN

"Thanks for stopping by my website. I just wanted to welcome you, and explain a little more about myself and my credentials. My credentials and certifications are listed to let people know where and when I completed certain systems, and that I have been approved to teach them. Pieces of paper do not make one a Martial Arts expert, you must judge what I can offer based on my skill. However I see many people teaching arts they have never been certified to teach, and are passing on information that is incorrect in many cases. I also see teachers who are very good, but have very arrogant personalities, and some students prefer those types of teachers, others prefer my laid back approach. I am still learning at this time, and am prepared to do so for the rest of my life. I have all my teachers blessings and they feel that I understand their methods and they are confident that I am qualified to teach their material and the piece of paper is like a diploma. In every other line of business I have been involved in you needed a license to prove you are qualified to practice your trade.

Martial Arts is is different in that anyone can put on a belt and open a school. It is also tricky in that many people are great fighters, yet cannot grasp the concepts of a system and they go on to teach it, also many teachers just dabble in an art or attend a few seminars and then go teach. If I am accepting money in exchange for lessons, I personaly feel it is important for me to be certified in what I am teaching. I am not one to brag about lineage or certification or to get caught up in titles and worshipping any teacher. However I do feel it is important to have a solid lineage, and to be given approval by a teacher to open my own classes. I have tried to study with the best teachers I could find, and to stick around long enough to prove my desire to learn and many have given me their blessings to teach. I have also trained with many other teachers and attended seminars, etc, but I do not claim to know those teachers whole systems, or to be teaching their syllabus.

I myself want to remain a student forever, and I must pass on the knowledge I had been given from my teachers. As we get older and deal with injuries, and have family obligations I cannot train in all the arts I have done in the past, I am focused on my own personal ideas in training, however I have all the material of the arts listed here, and want to pass it on so it does not dissapear."
always a student, always humble,no politics
